Receive University Offer & CAS
The process begins with securing an offer from a UK Licensed Student Sponsor. Once you meet all conditions (academic transcripts, IELTS/PTE scores, and references), you must pay a tuition deposit. For 2026, most universities require £2,000–£5,000 to demonstrate commitment.
THE CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies):
The CAS is a digital record generated by the university. It is valid for 6 months and can only be used for one visa application. You cannot apply for a visa more than 6 months before your course start date.
PRE-CAS CREDIBILITY INTERVIEW (Strict 2026 Protocols):
Universities now face higher “Compliance Track” scrutiny. You will likely undergo a “Pre-CAS Interview” via Zoom/Teams. You must be prepared to discuss:
• Course Modules: Specific names of subjects you will study.
• Why this University: Comparison with at least 2 other UK universities you researched.
• Financial Viability: Clear explanation of who is funding you and how they earned that money.

Prepare Financial Documents (CRITICAL)

MAINTENANCE FUNDS (2026–2027 RATES):
You must prove you have enough money to pay for your first year’s tuition fees PLUS living costs:

TB Test (Tuberculosis Screening)
All residents of Pakistan staying in the UK for more than 6 months must provide a TB certificate from an approved clinic.

Visa Decision & Pre-Departure

Is the 28-day rule really that strict?
Yes, completely strict. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) has a zero-tolerance
approach. Your bank balance must not drop below the required amount for even
one day during your 28-day period. Common mistakes:
– Paying a large bill that temporarily reduces balance
– Moving money between accounts (shows as a dip)
– Receiving a large deposit during the 28 days (looks suspicious)
– Starting the 28-day count wrong (Day 1 must be on/before application date)

Can I switch to a different visa while in the UK on a student visa?
Yes, in most cases. Common switches:
Student Visa → Graduate Route: Automatic switch when you complete degree
Graduate Route → Skilled Worker: Need a sponsored job offer
Graduate Route → Family Visa: If married to UK citizen or settled person
Student Visa → Student Visa: To extend for another degree
You CANNOT switch from Student Visa to:
– Visitor Visa
– Tourist status
Important: You must apply to switch BEFORE your current visa expires.
Do not overstay — this creates serious immigration problems.
What is the Graduate Route and when is it changing?
Graduate Route (also called PSW — Post-Study Work):
Allows you to stay and work in UK for 2 years after completing your degree.
No job offer required. Work in any role. No minimum salary requirement.
IMPORTANT 2027 CHANGE:
From January 2027, the Graduate Route changes to 18 months for
Bachelor’s and Master’s graduates. PhD remains at 3 years.
What this means for you:
If you start a 1-year Master’s in September 2025, finish September 2026,
you apply Graduate Route → you get 2 years (old rules still apply).
If you start in September 2026, finish September 2027 → you get 18 months.
Our advice: Starting September 2025 still gets you 2 years.
Starting September 2026 gets 18 months — still valuable but shorter.
Do I need HEC attestation for my Pakistani degree?
Most UK universities DO require HEC (Higher Education Commission) attestation
for your Pakistani degree, especially for Master’s applications.
WHAT TO ATTEST:
– Bachelor’s degree certificate
– Bachelor’s transcripts
– Sometimes Intermediate certificate
HOW TO GET HEC ATTESTATION:
1. Visit HEC offices in Islamabad (in person or post)
2. Online application: hec.gov.pk
3. Time: 2–4 weeks (can take longer in busy periods)
4. Cost: Varies (check current HEC fee schedule)
IBCC ATTESTATION:
For Intermediate (FSc, F.A.) certificates, you need IBCC attestation.
IBCC offices in major Pakistani cities.

Is it true that UK degrees are not recognised in Pakistan?

– Global employers worldwide

DEPENDS on your study level:
Master’s and PhD (if course is above Bachelor’s level):

✓ Children can join
Cost: Additional visa fee + IHS per family member
Spouse can work: Yes, full-time (Graduate Route level)
Financial requirement: Additional funds required for each dependant

Bachelor’s and Foundation:
✗ Dependants NOT permitted (rule tightened in 2024)

How do I open a UK bank account as an international student?
Banks that most easily accept international students:
– Monzo (app-based, open before arriving, recommended!)
– Starling (another good app bank)
– HSBC Student Account (traditional bank, good for long-term)

Avoid initially: Lloyds, NatWest, RBS — often require UK credit history.

What IELTS score do I need and can I use alternatives?
IELTS Requirements by Level:
– Foundation Year: 5.0–5.5 overall (no band below 5.0)
– Bachelor’s: 6.0–6.5 overall (no band below 5.5)
– Master’s: 6.5 overall (no band below 6.0)
– PhD: 6.5–7.0 overall
IELTS Alternatives (accepted by most universities):
– PTE Academic: Equivalent scores accepted
– Duolingo: 95–120 (accepted by many modern universities)
– OET: For healthcare programmes only
Some universities accept WITHOUT English test if:
– Your medium of instruction was English (issue university letter confirming)
– You have O-Level / A-Level English Grade C or above

Some universities provide conditional offers pending IELTS — take course first,
